"Bloodborne" launched on the PlayStation 4 in 2015 and cut a deep, bloody swath through console gamers looking to tackle its many challenges. One year later, Bloodborne returns, this time as a tabletop card game, with a promise to maintain the franchise's signature death toll.
"Bloodborne: The Card Game" is based on the video game's Chalice Dungeons. These are randomly created dungeons which exist, hidden perfectly under the city of Yharnham. The game is designed by none other than the award-winning Eric Lang. It is published by Cool Mini or Not.
"Bloodborne: The Card Game" requires a group of three to five players who has to explore and venture into these dungeons. They will have to face deadly bosses and monsters in the process. The challenge that they will face is tough. Their ultimate objective will be to seek the creatures' blood. The gamers will be called the Hunters. The Hunters claim the corpses of the monsters they killed as trophies. It will eventually be decided as to who is greatest Hunter, reported Polygon.
If we apply a management strategy to the game, we can say that the "Bloodborne" is all about risk management. All the hunters who first start playing will begin at a level ground with the same amount of weapons. When the players enter a new round, a new monster appears randomly from a created stack and attacks all the players. They will cause lots of damage or might even kill the hunter in case their health is too low. "Bloodborne" allow the hunters to deal with the monster and respond one at a time by playing a weapon from their hand. The Hunters will be able to collect as much blood as equivalent to the damage that they have inflicted on the monster. If a Hunter is successfully able to deal with a monster and slay it, a trophy is added to his team which will pile as victory points at the end of the game, reported GMA Network.
"My goal with Bloodborne was to channel the intensity and frustration of the video game into a contest between players. Lots of death," Land said as he envisioned the game. This stays true as death can come swiftly and mercilessly in "Bloodborne."
"Bloodborne" also showcases a lot of weapons. It has weapons that cause vast devastation like the Repeating Pistol and also the legendary Kirkhammer. "Bloodborne" ensures that the tension is recreated again and again whenever the player plays the game. The dread remains intact and accurately targets at raising the adrenaline level of the players.
It was observed that "Bloodborne" was well received at Gamescom. The demo of the game was always flocked with eager players. In general, the game received positive response at Gamescom. Lang was running the demos all by himself whole day and the publisher struggled to keep the copies stocked.
"Bloodborne: The Card Game" will be available widely from October.
