Helping Your Kids Establish A Sugar-Free Diet Is Not Easy, But You Need To Do It Anyway

Failure to control the intake of sugar of your kids will mean that you need to be ready for future chronic diseases for them. On the other hand, if you succeed in trimming down sugar intake for the kids then you are raising up them up healthy.

A study by Rober Lustig and team, published in Wiley.com, suggested that there is a dramatic improvement observed with kids who ate sugar-free food in ten days. The children who were involved in the research reportedly had reduced risk of diabetes since their blood sugar and insulin levels were normalized after being given the diet with no sugar at all.

The American Heart Association (AHA) recommended that children and teens should consume not more than 6 teaspoons of added sugar per day which is around 25 grams or 100 calories. If they cannot get rid of sugary drinks, they can still take just 8 ounces per week. Added sugars are very much dangerous for anyone's health especially for young people who ingest sweets at a higher volume.

AHA says that kids today generally consume three times too much added sugar. Added sugars are often incorporated during processing and come in the form of high-fructose corn syrup, which are served on the table as honey, spoonfuls of sugar and others. Parents should be aware of what is being served no matter how healthy the food may look like.

KidsHealth.org recommends a healthy balanced diet for kids over 2 years old to ensure that 50 to 60 percent of calories from carbohydrates are taken in. You need to make sure that the carbs are coming from good sources and that added sugar is limited.

JapanToday reports that starting on July 2018, "the amount of added sugars in packaged foods will be listed on US food labels." That will happen almost 2 years from now and some parents would not want to wait. It is therefore best to keep the kids away from added sugar as much as possible by making sure that what you buy for them from the super markets are healthy. A better alternative is to you go for organic foods so that your kids will be trained to have these really nutrtious and healthy food, This will establishi a healthy living plan which is important even at the early stage of life.
