Marisa Miller first posed nude while pregnant with now two-year old son, Gavin Lee. Now, Miller poses nude again in support of animal rights - a cause she has always strongly believed in. According to People, the 36-year-old model bared her body in a photo to promote PETA's latest campaign, "Sea World of Hurt."
Miller shared her experiences and insights in relation to animal rights. "I've always been an animal lover and I do a lot with ocean conservation," she said. "I always see dolphins when I surf, but I didn't have the knowledge about how they are acquired. When Blackfish came out, I saw it and I was so upset."
In the photo for the PETA ad, Miller lies on a bathtub naked while holding her baby bump. The model vividly imitates whales confined in narrow enclosure spaces following captivity.
"Even the tanks they [whales] do their ridiculous tricks in are way bigger than where they actually sleep," Miller elaborated. "They're completely confined. That's why they have all these dental problems, because they are chewing on metal and concrete - they can't even move."
The model mom explained the traumatic experiences nature's creatures suffer in captivity. "[The animals] are ripped apart from their family, they have to be drugged to handle the environment they're in," she shared.
Miller advocates for safe ways to help animals survive. She said, "There are other ways to experience them. There is a way that you can rehabilitate the animals in an environment that they can swim and you can go check them out."
She went on to add, "It's about awareness. Once the public knows, then they can make their own choices."
Miller is honest about her choice to save animals from ultimate doom. "This is an animal whose babies never leave their mother's side their whole life," she disclosed. "So as a mother, I have a totally different perspective on relating to that."
Miller gets support as a soon-to-be mom of two from husband Griffin Guess. The model fondly commended her partner, saying, "I have a husband that is so wonderful and accepting [about] the things that aren't so pretty that happen when you're pregnant. It's so not a big deal to him."
Miller's second child with Guess is due this month. The couple is expecting another son, according to E! Online.
She revealed in 2012 that she's always been confident in exposing her body during pregnancy.
"I always felt, even before I got pregnant, that it's better to accentuate your curves," the model said, according to Bustle.com. "It's important to really show off the belly."
