"Criminal Minds" Season 12 might feature two new characters after Thomas Gibson was fired. As for the actor, he is reportedly planning to venture into comedy again after his dismissal from the show.

"Criminal Minds" is reportedly still looking for Gibson's replacement and the producers are looking for two series regulars to fill the dismissal of the actor. Gibson was removed from the show after he kicked a writer during a heated confrontation.

There are no details offered by E! News regarding the two new characters but one of them will reportedly lead the team as they replace the characters of Gibson, Aaron Hotchner. The other character is still being discussed as to what he or she will do in "Criminal Minds" Season 12. CBS, the network where "Criminal Minds" airs did not comment on the matter but it is no secret that a new storyline is being discussed since they said in their statement when Gibson was fired that the creative details discussing how the exit of Gibson on the show will soon be addressed and announced.

Regarding the firing from "Criminal Minds," Gibson said in a statement that he and the writer he had an argument with had creative differences. He added, "I regret that it occurred. We all want to work together as a team to make the best show possible." The 54-year-old has been on "Criminal Minds" since it debuted in 2005. He was initially suspended but was subsequently let go.

As for his future plans regarding his acting career after being fired from "Criminal Minds," Gibson said that it might be time for him to go back into comedy, People reported. Gibson said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that many people have expressed to him that they want to see him in comedy again. Gibson said that laughter is indeed the best medicine.

Before being part of "Criminal Minds," Gibson starred in ABC's comedy sitcom "Dharma & Greg" from 1997 to 2002.

"Criminal Minds" Season 12 will be back in the small screen on September 28.
