'Days of Our Lives' Cast News: Kassie DePaiva Reveals She Is Battling Leukemia, Considers It A 'Bump In The Road'

"Days of Our Lives" actress Kassie DePaiva has come out publicly regarding her health. She has revealed that she is suffering from leukemia but she considers the health dilemma just a bump in the road.

The Daytime Emmy nominee was set to return to the soap "Days of Our Lives" as Eve Donovan wrote on her website about being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She said that she has been quiet lately and she knows that her fans would like to know what has been going on her life and she revealed that she was diagnosed with the sickness during the three-week July hiatus of "Days of Our Lives." She continued to reveal that she has spent six of the last nine weeks in the hospital this not being able to update her fans with her life.

DePaiva also said that she will continue treatment over the next three months and that she has started to film for "Days of Our Lives" despite the road block, People reported. She added that returning as Eve actually gave her the courage to let her fans know about her situation. She told the "Days of Our Lives" fans that she is not camera ready now but her goal is to stir up trouble in Salem again and she asked her fans to keep her in their thoughts and prayers.

The "Days of Our Lives" actress added that her prognosis is good and will not likely need a stem cell or bone marrow transplant. She also expects that she would be cured completely. DePaiva added, "I consider this just a bump in the road. I have amazing prayer warriors, family, and friends that have been extremely supportive and life-affirming throughout this," E! News reported.

The 55-year-old has been on other soaps such as "Guiding Light" and "General Hospital." She also is known for her role as Blair on "One Life to Live" as she starred in the soap for 20 years since 1993.

"Days of Our Lives" airs Mondays through Fridays on NBC.
