Back to School Tips from What’s Up Moms

Back to school is in full swing and we know it can be overwhelming and exciting at the same time. Fruit of the Loom partnered with the number one parenting channel on YouTube, What's Up Moms to give parents their top tips and tricks for making the most hectic time of year as simple as possible. Below, is their own advice when it comes to being back to school ready.

How do you recommend transitioning kids from summer to back-to-school? - Start early. At least two weeks before school starts, get them back into their school bedtime routine.

What do you do to get your kids organized and ready for their first day of school? - Involve them in the process as much as possible. Take them back-to-school shopping, let them pick out their backpack, pack their first day lunches, etc. The sense of control tends to bring them a sense of calm. Plus, then they can't complain about what you pack.

What's the #1 must-have item you recommend for back-to-school? - A giant cup of coffee. Oh, do you mean for the kids? Besides tons of stylish, comfy underwear in Fruit of the Loom's bonus packs? A bento lunch box. You can throw whatever you want in there and it looks like you tried.

How do you recommend dealing with "Mommy Wars" situations? - With a lot of laughter. We're lucky to have each other and when you have good friends who don't judge you, it's a lot easier to brush things off. If we're in a generous mood, we try to remember that even the judgiest of moms is just trying to be the best mom she can be.

What's the #1 piece of advice you would give moms preparing for back-to-school? - It does NOT have to be stressful. If your kid shows up on the first day, you have done your job.

What is the best way to make your kids feel as comfortable as possible as they head back to school? - Talk a lot about what to expect. Visit school beforehand, do play dates, ease into it. Most importantly, don't get stressed yourself. The kids can sense it. When you drop them off, have a good cry on the way back to the car.

Do you love or hate back-to-school, why? - LOVE. Hands down. It's nice to spend a lot of quality time with the kids over the summer. But by week 8 or maybe 2, if we hear one more "I'm bored" or "I don't like that camp"... let's just say it's nice to be back on a schedule.
