Barack Obama Surprises Moms on Mother's Day; Calls Them [Watch Video]

US President Barack Obama made calls to three mothers living in Minnesota, Arizona and Florida, according to Time. These mothers allegedly thanked the president for giving support on higher minimum wage value. Also, these mothers were grateful to the president's signing of 2010's "Affordable Care Act." The said parents expressed their gratitude to the president by sending letters to The White House within the year.

A video The White House shared on Sunday featured Obama talking to the mothers.

"I decided on Mother's Day I should call up some letter writers and moms, and say thank you for being great moms," he said to one of them. "You're one of the moms I want to say thank you to. You still don't believe me."

Obama reportedly found it hard to convince another mom that he was calling her. To better convince the woman to believe him, Obama told her, "No it's me. Ok, give me a test. Ask me about anything."

Obama's mom, Ann Dunham, inspired him to value parenthood. He revealed, "I know how tough it is to raise kids and do right by them. If it hadn't been for my mother, I certainly wouldn't be here." He added, "You're doing the most important work there is."

According to NBC News, Minnesota mom, Stephanie Tarr, said in amazement that "the whole conversation and everything around it has been surreal."

Patricia Church from Ormond Beach, Florida, was the last mom Obama called on Sunday. Church raises four kids as a single mom, according to CNN. One of Church's children is a Marine soldier based at Camp Lejeune.

Church closed the letter she sent to the commander-in-chief with this message, "Mr. President, I know you are far too busy to talk to or meet me and I understand that. But I hope and pray you will at least be able to read my words."

Obama told Church, "I was so proud of everything you've done raising four kids and you know serving our country." He added, "Those boys are going to turn out good because of you."

The current US president is the first African-American individual to hold the highest post in the land. He leaves office after the November 2016 U.S. presidential elections.

He is married to first lady Michelle Obama and has two children, namely, Malia, 16 and Sasha, 13.
