"Harry Potter GO" is inspired by two things - The Harry Potter spin off film, "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" and the "Pokemon GO" game. A fan made trailer for a potential "Harry Potter Go" game is doing the rounds. Fans of the game as well as the series were given a glimpse of how the project will look like if it ever materialized.
The trailer for the "Harry Potter Go" game was released by Stargaze Media. The video featured the Marauder's Map and also showcased many in-game features such as the different houses at Hogwarts. The game involves interacting with other wizards, gathering magic cards and catching fantastic beasts. The trailer was initially made to appease both "Harry Potter" and "Pokemon GO" fans. However, after the trailer gained popularity it is now widely felt that it would be a great idea to combine the most popular game and the most popular book, reported HNGN.
It is reported that the "Harry Potter Go" trailer successfully reached Niantic. Marcus Figueroa, senior developer at Niantic, also went ahead and announced that Niantic has acquired the rights to a potential "Harry Potter Go" game. It is said that they are working on the new title as the demand from the fans was huge, reported Tech Times.
Figueroa added that the game will involve the schools of witchcraft and wizardry. It will involve a quest system and huge interactive events. The team at Niantic has to yet officially plan the "Harry Potter Go" project.
It is reported that Niantic will launch the "Harry Potter Go" in the beginning of 2017. The details of the game and the way the plot is planned are kept under covers as there are no reports regarding the same. Niantic will make an announcement only when they have a solid plan in place.
It is reported that the working title of the game is called "Maguss." It is said that the "Harry Potter GO" game will be similar to "Pokemon GO" in concept but will differ in many ways. It is said to function with a tangible wand and special elements that are unique to the novels by J.K. Rowling.
It is indeed a great strategy as it will attract the fans of the "Pokemon GO" game as well as the "Harry Potter" series. Niantic can capitalize on a large group of "Harry Potter" fans across the globe.
