After the massive string of the Ultimate Fighting Championship events before and after UFC 200, President Dana White gives fans a heads up about what's to come next for the UFC and it's biggest stars.
With plenty of hype surrounding the anticipated rematch between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor, UFC 202 became one of the top three best pay-per-views in the history of the mixed martial arts promotion, and now that that's over with, fans are wondering what's next.
Dana White, in an interview with NBC Sports Radio, announced that Conor McGregor will not be stripped of his Featherweight championship, but instead the Irish champion will have to "give it up" if he refuses fight Jose Aldo to unify the in the near future. McGregor who has lost interest in a rematch with Aldo, after knocking him out in the first round of the first bout, and instead he'd rather have a third fight with Diaz again at 155 pounds, or challenge the current lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez.
White also mentioned the situation of former light-heavyweight champion Jon "Bones" Jones and current champion Daniel "DC" Cormier. With Jones facing a shortened sentence for a failed drug test prior to UFC 200, Jones could very well be back in the cage sooner, and hopefully, for good.
While Cormier wants nothing to do with Jon Jones after waiting for over a year for him to get back in the cage, White has other plans for the former number 1 pound for pound fighter in the world. According to MMA Fighting, White has plans for a fight between Jon Jones and Anthony "Rumble" Johnson for the number 1 contender spot for the light-heavyweight belt. Johnson, who recently came off a tremendous 13-second knockout victory against Glover Teixeira, is looking for his second title shot.
The next big UFC event will be UFC 203, which will feature the debut of Phil "CM Punk" Brooks and heavyweight belt will be on the line in the main event as Stipe Miocić defends his title against Alistair Overeem.
