NBC might have a new hit series this fall in the dramedy "This Is Us." Set to debut on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 10 p.m., the drama stars Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia and an ensemble of characters who have one thing in common: they share the same birthday.
Ahead of its release, "This Is Us" is already generating quite a lot of buzz from viewers. NBC New York notes that the show's teaser on Facebook has already earned an astounding 63 million views and has been shared by over 410,000 users. No other new broadcast network TV show slated this fall has earned numbers that high. Meanwhile, the teaser on its YouTube page has drawn over 8 million views.
"This Is Us" was first announced as in development in Sept. 2015, per Deadline. Casting immediately followed, which had Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia snagging the lead roles.
Moore plays Rebecca, who is pregnant with triplets on "This Is Us." Ventimiglia plays Jack, her husband. Also in the series are Justin Hartley as Kevin -- a television actor and ladies' man, Sterling K. Brown as Randall -- a family man who is a corporate slave in New York, and Ron Cephas Jones as William -- Randall's father who abandoned him. Chris Sullivan, Susan Kelechi Watson and Chrissy Metz are also in the cast.
These characters' paths cross in the most interesting way as they discover they all have the same birthdates. But they also share other unexpected things, which will be slowly unfolded on "This Is Us" this fall.
Show creator Dan Fogelman ("Crazy, Stupid, Love") stated that "This Is Us" will involve four main, interconnected storyline. "We'll see growth of people as we jump around in time," said Fogelman via Mashable.
Ventimiglia is hoping that the audience will be able to enjoy the new TV show as much as the teaser has been well-received. "[Hopefully we'll] make something beautiful and entertaining, something that people can connect to," the actor said in the report. Find out what others are saying about the series in this video below.
