Toronto Raptors is said to be trying to acquire NBA player Serge Ibaka via trade or via the 2017 free agency. The NBA player recently revealed that he never wanted the Oklahoma City Thunder trade but is happy to play for Orlando Magic.
The Toronto Raptors wanted to get a great player for their power forward position during the 2016 offseason for the 2016-2017 season but they were not able to acquire Ibaka. They now have Jared Sullinger to play for the position and he was acquired by the Toronto Raptors via a cheap deal.
Due to Toronto Raptors not being able to get Ibaka this season, Sportsrageous reported that they are planning to get him next summer and that they are willing to give him a maximum deal. However, it remains unclear if that plans will change as Ibaka might not be able to show off his skills this 2016-2017 NBA season. With Orlando Magic, Ibaka will have to make sure that his skills will be showcased since he plays alongside other big men like Aaron Gordon, Bismack Biyombo, Jeff Green, Nikola Vucevic, and Stephen Zimmerman.
Orlando Magic might consider unloading Ibaka from their team if he will not fit well with the team this 2016-2017 NBA season. It is possible that Ibaka will be acquired by the Toronto Raptors via trade. They could trade DeMarre Carroll for Ibaka. If this happens, Carroll joining Orlando Magic will make their guard position better while Ibaka joining Toronto Raptors will result to the upgrading of power forward.
More on being traded to Orlando Magic, Ibaka said that he never asked to be traded but slammed reports that he was not happy with the move. He said that he had a meeting with Billy Donovan and Sam Presti after the season and it went well, Asia Starz reported. He pointed out that basketball is a business and everyone has to do what is best for them so he lets his agent deal with the business side of things so he could focus on basketball.
Ibaka will be starting his season with Orlando Magic this October 3 as the team will go against Memphis Grizzlies.
