Elle Australia Magazine Unveils First-Ever Cover of Breastfeeding Model for June Issue

The Australian edition of Elle Magazine has done a remarkable thing. They decided to put model and actress Nicole Trunfio in the cover as she was photographed breastfeeding her baby, Zion.

The candid shot was captured by Georges Antoni, and it showed Nicole fully made up and wearing a gorgeous brown Burberry suede coat as she was working at the time. The coat was opened to her chest to give access to Zion, whom she was breastfeeding.

However, it wasn't the concept the magazine was trying to go for at first. "This wasn't a contrived situation: Zion needed a feed, Nicole gave it to him, and when we saw how beautiful they looked we simply moved her onto the set," said Editor-in-Chief Justine Cullen in a report from Huffington Post. "It was a completely natural moment that resulted in a powerful picture," added Cullen.

When the cover was shown to Nicole, she couldn't help but cry about it. Posting on her social media account, Nicole shared her sentiments as to why it was not only important to her but also to every mother, regardless if they breastfeed or not.

"There is nothing more powerful and beautiful than motherhood. The last thing I want to do is be controversial, so please take this for what it is, let us #normalizebreastfeeding there is nothing worse than a mother that is judged for feeding her hungry child in public. #weareonlyhuman," her post on Instagram begins.

"I'm so proud of this cover and for what it stands for. I obviously don't look like this while I am breastfeeding but this stands for all women out there, whether you breastfeed or not, we gave birth, we are women, we are mothers," she adds. She also thanked Elle for their bold move, describing it as "an encouraging, positive and healthy statement."

On Elle Australia's Instagram account, the magazine is already generating a lot of positive feedback as thousands hit liked and commended the magazine for what they did.

Once the issue hits newsstands in June, however, there will be a different cover in the magazine, which will feature Nicole in a black Prada dress while holding a sleeping Zion. However, subscribers to Elle Australia will get the cover with the breastfeeding photo, according to Today.

Nicole, who is married to musician Gary Clarke, Jr., gave birth to Zion this January. The baby's birth hasn't received a lot of fanfare, which is the case for most celebrity baby births, as the couple do their best to live life as normally as possible.
