"Hart of Dixie" star Scott Porter is now a proud father to a baby boy. His wife, Kelsey Mayfield-Porter, gave birth to the new addition in the Porter family last Sunday, May 23, 2015, and they already chose a name for the little one.
Unable to conceal his excitement about being a new dad, Porter, who was updating his Twitter account all throughout his wife labor, announced the birth of his first child by posting the baby's very first photo for the world to see. "After a 44 Hour odyssey, #HousePorter has a new heir! Mommy and baby boy are both healthy and resting! Thank you all for the positive light!" the actor wrote on social media. The father proudly revealed more details about the birth, saying that the baby was born at 4:16 in the afternoon and weighed 8 lbs, 5 oz.
He also posted another photo of the little one, this time resting peacefully as his father cradled him. The smile on Scott's face speaks volumes of how he really feels about the arrival of his son. He describes this as a "game changer."
Meanwhile, his wife also posted the birth announcement on her own Instagram account, revealing the baby's name. "Someone made an appearance yesterday. Welcome to the world McCoy Lee Porter! 8lbs 5 oz, 20.5 inches, 38 cm head #BabyBoyMcCoy," Kelsey wrote.
While generally low profile for people working on television, representatives of the actor first confirmed that Kelsey and Scott were in the family way back in February, via People Magazine. A few days after that, Scott posted the baby announcement on his social media account, showing two football jerseys and the caption: "Little guy is going to have a tough time deciding who to root for...but we'll love him no matter what school he chooses...right @kiwiporter? #housedivided #PorterOnTheWay."
Scott and Kelsey met on the set of the NBC drama series, "Friday Night Lights," where Scott was one of the stars and Kelsey was one of the casting directors. This was in 2008, and then five years later, in April, the two married in Austin, Texas.
At that time, Porter told US Magazine that they were not planning on having children right away. "We're both very family-oriented and definitely want them down the road, but not right now," he revealed in the interview. But it looks with McCoy's birth, everything has fallen into place for the Porters.
