Game of Thrones' Star Lena Headey Announces New Baby Girl: 'My Daughter Will Have Freedom of Choice'

"Game of Thrones" actress Lena Headey is hardly the model mom in the TV show in which she plays Cersei Lannister, the conniving evil queen. In real life, however, Headey could be contender for Mother of the Year for voicing out and taking a stance against gender inequality - situation she hopes will be different once her baby girl grows up.

Headey, 41, whose second pregnancy was announced back in February, is expected to give birth to her new baby in a few weeks. In preparation for the baby's coming, the actress penned a guest blog on Plan International USA's site, a child advocacy group she supports.

In it, the actress wrote to thank the people who sent her lovely messages when her pregnancy was announced. However, she also shared a strongly-worded message about gender inequality, saying how it is "too prevalent all over the world" that it is "so great and so frightening."

"My daughter will have freedom of choice. She will be free to dance, to sing, to be educated in the fields that spark her passion, to marry if she wants, to marry WHO she wants, to remain single, or to fall in love with another woman," the actress said in her essay, titled "My Daughter."

"She'll be able to wear what she wants, put on lipstick, and read books that spark debate and expand her mind. She will be loved, protected, respected, and celebrated," Headey wrote further, adding that as these are basic human rights, she promises that her daughter will get to enjoy these.

"My humble request is that you give what you can and maybe - just maybe - we can bring about the change we all wish to see," Headey said at the end of her essay, expressing hope that the future will be kind to her unborn baby girl and the rest of the children of the world.

She wrote the piece because she believes, "We owe it to our sisters who have no voice, and no chance to be heard, to speak up." As part of her advocacy with the group, Headey is working to educate and help in providing health care and sanitation to children in underprivileged countries. The site is also seeking donations to fund their different projects.

Headey's first-born child is Wylie, who is now 4 years old. She used to be married to Peter Loughran, a musician, but the couple divorced in 2013 after six years of marriage. She has not revealed the father of her baby girl, but she would still want more children as she previously said in an interview with Telegraph.
