Selena Gomez to Be Replaced by Demi Lovato After Going Through Tough Times

Selena Gomez has been going though times, which eventually urged her to take a break from the spotlight. Selena Gomez reportedly backed out from her performance for Global Citizen Festival 2016.

Selena Gomez is set to make an appearance for The Global Citizen Festival 2016. Selena Gomez recently announced that she will be taking a break from the limelight, which involves her road tour and her festival appearance.

Selena Gomez took a break as she needs to focus on her health. The singer was previously diagnosed with lupus, which greatly affected her immune system. Though she may have backed out from her performance, Selena Gomez' best friend, Demi Lovato, is said to take her place.

Demi Lovato confirmed replacing Selena when she announced it via the news website, People. Demi Lovato then dished out the intent of the festival, stating that it is a combination of activism and music at the same time.

"The Global Citizen Festival combines music and activism in a way that inspires and affects millions around the world," Demi Lovato tells People. "I am proud to support this amazing organization's ongoing efforts to improve global healthcare and to end extreme poverty."

The singer-actress has been struggling with several health concerns since last year. Selena Gomez was diagnosed with lupus, which greatly affected her career. US Weekly previously announced that Selena Gomez did not only suffer from lupus, but she also underwent panic attacks and anxiety which eventually depression.

"As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have Lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways," Selena Gomez said in a statement. "I've discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of Lupus, which can present their own challenges."
