People generally have some ideals and requirements about where to raise a family in America, and the best cities could be a matter of preference and perspective. But in helping families decide where to establish their roots or relocate to bring a better life for their children, it might be helpful to consider a new report that compares 150 cities around the United States. Is your city in the top of the rankings for the best city to raise a family in America?
The report, which was culled by Wallet Hub, looked into America's most popular cities based on factors like housing, school, health care, recreation and affordability. It underscored how each of the cities have their advantages and disadvantages for raising a family in America, citing that no city is actually perfect.
Leading the list is Overland Park in Kansas, which boasts of low poverty rate and has lower cost of living for families. Kansas City reports that city officials have always been proud of what Overland Park offers families. Apart from being an affordable place to live, Overland Park has plenty of sites that offer family-friendly recreation and enriching activities, such as the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead and the American Museum of Natural History Exhibitions.
At the end of the spectrum, Wallet Hub has identified Birmingham in Alabama as the worst city to raise an American family. According to Al, the city received the lowest points because of its divorce rate and crime or violence rate. It also lacks proper kids' recreation sites like playgrounds and parks.
