Each parent had their fair share of struggles when putting their child to sleep. One of the biggest challenges that parents would have to face is dealing with their toddlers sleeping habits. Read on to find out some of the most effective hacks in dealing with your toddler's sleeping dilemma.
Toddlers are balls of energy that are always psyched to try new things. With their excitement to explore the world around them, they'd often get too giddy and determined to try new things, which can eventually affect their sleeping habits.
Toddlers that are starting to explore the beauty and the challenge of walking may tend to wake up early and practice their new motor skills. Some are too excited with their new freedom that they would wake up in the middle of the night just to walk around.
Parents gave out an effective tip in putting the excited toddler back to sleep. It was mentioned that milestones can possibly take the blame for toddler's wee night hyperactivity. Nelly Maseda, M.D. a pediatrician from New York stated that despite you're toddler's excitement, it is important to stay firm and make it clear that he/she needs to get back to sleep.
Dr Maseda explains that these mid night excitements are often short term if left unstimulated, the child can easily get back to sleep. Parents should be firm in sending their child back to sleep stating that thought he child went through disturbing movements, the toddler would have no memory of waking up.
Baby Centre then shared another tip, this time; it's for toddlers that would not sleep without one parent beside them. It was mentioned that setting up a consistent bed time routine which starts from dinner, bath and story time can work wonders.
Though your toddler would wake up every time you'd exit the room, make it clear that you would check on your toddler after 5 minutes. It was then mentioned that it is important to make the toddler feel loved and secure just so they would be bold enough to sleep on their own.
