MMA News: UFC’s Mickey Gall Wants Sage Northcutt for UFC 205

UFC young up-and-comer, Mickey Gall, made quite the statement after impressively defeating CM Punk in the latter's mixed martial arts debut in UFC 203, Gall then proceeded to make another one, by calling out fellow prospect Sage Northcutt for a fight in UFC 205.

The 24-year-old Mickey Gall, who is now 3-0 in his professional MMA career after defeating CM Punk in just 2 minutes in the first round via rear naked choke, still feels like he has more to prove before he can call himself a legitimate contender. Gall felt the need to put on a stellar performance against Punk, who by any means, is still an amateur in the fight game, without any fights in mixed martial arts, outside of sparring sessions in his training camp.

In Gall's post-fight interview inside the UFC Octagon with Joe Rogan, Gall called out fellow UFC young gun, Sage Northcutt. Gall reached out to Northcutt saying that he wants to face him at UFC 205 card and "knock the spikes out of his hair." In the press conference following the event, Gall stated that he wants a definite step-up in the competition he faces, and that he doesn't want to be known for his win over Punk, according to MMA Junkie.

Northcutt, at 20 years old, already has the spotlight under him for much of 2016. With 4 impressive performances in the UFC, despite losing one fight against Bryan Barbarena, "Super" Sage still has a bright future ahead of him, and a fight with Gall in a grand stage like Madison Stage Garden, would be just what he needs to propel him into top contender status.

Although it was recently revealed that Northcutt would not be able to make it to UFC 205 in November, even if he wanted to. According to Bloody Elbow, Sage's father, Mark Northcutt, has reported that the 20-year old suffers from a staph infection, among other things, and won't be able to train properly for a fight that is only less than two months away.
