The CFDA Fashion Awards on Monday, June 1, was truly a showcase of the most well-dressed and fashion-forward stars. However, one person stood out from the parade of celebrities. Maya Thurman-Hawke, the daughter of movie stars Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, made heads turn at the CFDA red carpet.
The 16-year-old stepped out wearing a Zac Posen creation, a floral embroidered tulle gown from his 2016 resort collection. Posen, incidentally, was her date for the night and the fashion designer even shared photos of his muse on his Instagram account. He was impressed by her.
When Maya walked the red carpet, she was all smiles and even managed to twirl for the photographers, who were left fascinated by what she did, according to Daily Mail. The teenager looked her age with barely-there make-up and let her long curls loose. She wore no jewelry, so that nothing would overpower the floral dress. Her look was stunning but simple.
The reports don't say if Maya has any plans of entering the fashion industry just yet, but the young girl obviously has had a lot of practice gracing the red carpet, having actors for parents. She has been attending a series of movie premieres with them, no doubt.
However, this is the first time the crowd has taken notice of the young beauty, who's features are so much similar to her mother. Maya also joined Uma in Paris last July for the Miu Miu resort show, so she has been exposed and knows her way around the circuit, according to Fashionista.
The reports don't also say whether Maya has any plans to go into acting. However, she would have been director Sofia Coppola's pick to lead the live production of "The Little Mermaid." Unfortunately, the director dropped from the project due to a misunderstanding with Universal Studios.
According to Yahoo, the studio didn't want Coppola's choice for leading lady. With all the buzz and praises Maya received at the CFDA event, Universal may have realized they made a mistake. Had it pushed through, it would have been Maya's first movie and starring role.
Maya is the first-born child of Uma and Ethan, who met while filming "Gattaca" in 1997. The couple married in May 1998, while Uma was seven months pregnant with their daughter. Uma and Ethan also has a son, Levon, born in 2002. The couple, however, divorced in 2005 after separating for two years.
