Ubisoft's action hack and slash video game "For Honor" is getting a closed alpha test that will run through the weekend and, in addition to the much-touted Art of Battle System, some details about the game have been released before the "For Honor" alpha test begins Sept. 15.
Promotional media for "For Honor" previously announced three classes for the three factions game; Kensei for the samurai Chosen, Warden for the knightly Legion, and Raider for the Viking Warborn; and when the "For Honor" alpha test begins, all those will be available for play alongside three new classes, the Orochi, Conqueror, and Berserker, according to Gamespot.
For the Chosen's hero classes present in the "For Honor" alpha test, the Kensei wields the elongated Nodachi to be a frontline fighter; whereas the Orochi wields the classic Japanese Katana alongside some shinobi techniques as a shadowy warrior. The former's style as sword saints heavily imply a connection to the upper class of society, whereas the latter's willingness to utilize dirty methods suggest lowborn status.
Similar to the Chosen's class dynamic in the "For Honor" alpha test, the Legion's classes are also comprised of a wielder of a large sword and a less scrupulous character type: The Warden wields a massive Longsword to defend the weak as protectors like their name implies, while the Conqueror are conscripted criminals wielding a shield alongside the highly volatile Flail to become juggernauts.
In contrast to the Chosen and the Legion, both of whom utilize armor and defensive tactics in battle, the Warborn's warriors in the "For Honor" alpha test forgo protective covering for unbridled strength and fury. The Raider class utilize the long-handled Dane Axe and immense strength to destroy their enemies while the Berserker wields Twin Axes to channel their rage alongside impressive ability to rip people apart.
"For Honor" Roman Campos Oriola also recently spoke of the other, gameplay mechanics-related details that players can expect for this coming alpha test. Some things that Oriola revealed are that the developers plan for the alpha test to reach out to as many as possible, meaning there could be a sizable number of players and that they also hope to better configure the games connection and latency issues with this test.
The "For Honor" alpha test begins Sept. 15 and will run until Sept. 18 for the PC, PlayStation 4, and the Xbox One.
