Fans would be pleased to know that they will be able to see the reboot of "The Good Wife" earlier than expected. Originally set for a spring 2017 release, "The Good Wife" spinoff will now debut on CBS linear network in February.
According to Deadline, the change comes amid the request of the creative team of "Star Trek: Discovery," as the producers of the drama wanted to have more time to spent in the pre-production, filming and post production. With that, "Star Trek: Discovery" was moved to a May debut, will "The Good Wife" schedule is upped to a February sweep release.
After its premiere on the CBS liner network, all episodes of "The Good Wife" will be made available on CBS All Access, the network's live and streaming services. The spinoff series will pick up a year after the finale of the original series. This time, the story will focus on the new star, Christine Baranski, who plays Diane Lockhart. Cush Jumbo (Lucca Quinn) will also be part of the spinoff. While the show is said to be focusing on introducing new characters, Julianna Margulies may also make an appearance, according to International Business Times. Michelle King recently hinted that fans might see familiar faces and that "we might see Alicia."
"The Good Wife" spinoff, which will have 22 episodes, is executive produced by Robert and Michelle King, Ridley Scott, David Zucker, Liz Glotzer and Brooke Kennedy. Robert and Michelle King, the creator of the original "The Good Wife," have signed up as full-time in this reboot. "It'll be fun to build [the company] anew," Michelle told TVLine.
