Over a year after "Frozen 2" was announced as in development, production has yet to officially start on the Disney animated movie sequel. Rumors about a delay have been cropping online, but Kristen Bell, who voiced Anna in the first movie, relayed that there really is no need to rush work for "Frozen 2."
Speaking with IGN, Kristen Bell confirmed that "Frozen 2" has no script yet and that is perfectly fine. The long wait might even be good for the beloved animated film. "They have the luxury to not rush because everyone is going to be excited whether it comes out tomorrow or in five years," Anna's voice actress said.
Kristen Bell believes that the people behind "Frozen 2" are ensuring that the sequel would be perfect, hence any delay is acceptable. But when that call for recording comes, she knows that she and her co-stars will be able to commit to it.
Asked if she has any expectations about what the storyline for "Frozen 2" will be, Kristen Bell pointed out that she's only the voice and not the script writer. But the central story of "Frozen" remains focused on the sisters -- Anna and Elsa. "I'm sure that they will have to challenge their relationship in a new way," added Bell.
The actress co-stars with Idina Menzel in "Frozen 2," who reprises her role as the voice of Anna's sister Elsa. Menzel revealed that she's thrilled about the possibility of Elsa being gay in the "Frozen" sequel, as was earlier rumored. But she's not sure if this will the actual storyline for the upcoming movie.
"I can't promise anybody that that's what's gonna happen," said Menzel via Pride Source. "But deep down am I really happy that it's causing people to talk about it and have these kinds of conversations? Yeah, I am," she added.
"Frozen" first ran in theaters in 2013 and has earned over a billion at the box office worldwide, per Box Office Mojo. The animated movie also received several awards, including the Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song. The movie is from the bright ideas of Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee, and Peter Del Vecho.
