Ben Affleck can compromise on anything in his life, except his family.
The 40-year-old director/actor recently opened up about the factors that make him successful in life. He gives the entire credit to one source - his family.
Affleck has three children with wife Jennifer Garner; daughters Violet (7), Seraphina (4) and son Samuel (10 months).
"They're most important in my life," the 40-year-old father told Us Weekly. "Family is a wonderful thing, but it doesn't mean you can't do other stuff in your life. In fact, having a family makes whatever other thing you have that much richer. If it was just me, I'd be home alone and think, 'Well, something good happened at work,' but it's much nicer to share it with people you love.
"I think anytime you become a richer person you have more substance. I hope that happened to me with having a family, but you never know!" he said.
During the chat, he also revealed his happiness over the success of his 2012 film "Argo".
"When I was making it, everyone was telling me it had all the makings of a failure: it was a period movie, in the Middle East, it was a drama, I was the youngest guy in it," Affleck said. "So I had very low expectations and I was thrilled when we didn't totally bomb!"
The revelations come at a time when Affleck won Best Director and "Argo" was chosen as the Best Picture at the 2013 Critics' Choice Awards in Santa Monica, California, Thursday night, Jan. 10.
Affleck, who started acting as a child, shot to fame after appearing in films like "Mallrats", "Chasing Army" and "Dogma". Apart from acting, he has tried his hands at direction. "Gone Baby Gone", "The Town" and "Argo" are some of the films directed by him.
