'Star Wars Episode 7' Cast Carrie Fisher's Daughter Billie Lourd Debuts in Film With Secret Role, Family Discouraging Her?

With "Star Wars" original cast Carrie Fisher set to reprise her role as Princess Leia in the upcoming movie "Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens," Fisher's daughter is reportedly joining the team as well.

In a report published by ABC News, the daughter of the 58-year-old actress, Billie Lourd, is eyeing a career the big screen, a path that her family is reportedly discouraging her from taking.

"My whole life, they said, 'Do not act. You need to get a college degree,'" said the 22-year-old who recently graduated from NYU during a sit-down with Interview Magazine. "I went to performing arts camp, secretly taking classes - I got the lead in the musical, and my dad was like, 'Wait, I thought you were going here for music and knitting.'"

The publication confirmed that the while she will be appearing in the blockbuster due out at the end of the year, she won't be playing the obvious role of Princess Leia's daughter.

"I'm not Princess Leia's daughter," said Billie Lourd who added, "This is the first job I've ever had - right into the fire ... This is what I've always wanted. I'm living the dream right now."

"Star Wars 7" Plot

In the press release for the upcoming movie, Lucasfilm and Disney have announced that the movie will take place 30 years after the events of "Return of the Jedi."

It has also been confirmed that Star Wars: Episode VII is set about 30 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, and will star a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces. No further details on casting or plot are available at this time.

Billie is set to appear on the silver screen alongside industry heavy-hitters that include Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Adam Driver, and Andy Serkis.

In addition to her "Star Wars" gig, Billie is also on set for Ryan Murphy's new series, a sorority thriller called, "Scream Queens," reported The Wrap. "It's scary," Lourd said of the series, "but there's a lot of comedic breaks."

"Scream Queens" premieres this fall on Fox. Billie co-stars with Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Nick Jonas and Abigail Breslin.

"Star Wars: Episode VII" will be released in theaters on Dec. 18.
