NBA Trade Rumors: J.R. Smith Has Finally Re-Sign With Cleveland Cavaliers For A $13 Million 2 Year Deal?

J.R. Smith is a free agent this offseason and his former running mate LeBron James was. In fact, reports have it that Smith and James top the free agency market. However, James has already re-signed with Cleveland Cavaliers for a multi-million deal and everyone is waiting for Smith to do the same. According to recent reports, Smith and Cavs have already sealed a deal.

Parent Herald previously reported that J.R. Smith has skipped the Cleveland Cavaliers get-together a week before the training camp because he has not re-signed with the Cavs yet. However, it seems that both parties have already reached a deal.

According to Sports Rageous, J.R. Smith is finally signing a contract with Cleveland Cavaliers. The new contract gives Smith a two-year deal with the Cavs with an annual salary of $13 million.

In an interview with Complex.Com, J.R. Smith admitted that he and Cavs are not in the position they want. Both parties reportedly want to reunite but couldn't agree with a deal.

According to earlier reports, Cleveland Cavaliers offered J.R. Smith a deal with an annual salary of $10 million. However, LeBron James' running mate is demanding an annual salary of $15 million.

Unfortunately, since no other team is bidding for J.R. Smith, Cleveland Cavaliers don't feel the need to increase their offer. However, in a separate report from Parent Herald, we learned that Smith and Cavs concern is not the money but the length of the deal. Cleveland Cavaliers reportedly want a shorter deal with Smith.

LeBron James and Kevin Love expressed their interests in playing with J.R. Smith again this NBA season and it seems that Cavs is giving in. Smith also said he and his team have a mutual respect for each other and he doesn't want to take advantage.

Did you expect for J.R. Smith to re-sign with the Cavs? Are you happy that he did? Does keeping Smith give Cleveland Cavaliers a bigger chance of winning a back-to-back championship? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
