The power couple of science and technology, Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan announced a new project now known as the Chan Zuckerberg Science at a San Francisco event. It is a promising program that is meant to help in the prevention, management and even cure of all known diseases in the world. This project would be under the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and it is their goal to put in $3 billion for the next ten years to make it possible, as reported on September 22.
According to Tech Crunch, the couple is serious in wanting to end deadly diseases in the world or at least help alleviate the pain and suffering of the many victims of diseases that are out there still finding for relief and cure. Their investment of $3 billion will have the best scientists and engineers in the field of medicine and technology to come up with new tools that would help solve the world's problem when it comes to diseases.
Priscilla Chan is the right person to address this project since she is a licensed pediatrician and has seen families who struggled in finding cure and simply help in managing diseases. She even cried when she spoke on stage, as she shared about knowing anyone who is related with someone who has cancer. Clearly, this project is close to her heart and would love to see progress in the field of medicine to lessen the agony of many people who are dealing with deadly diseases.
The Atlantic also featured the power couple's project saying it is not as crazy as many people think. The Chan Zuckerberg Science is not just about funding to cure diseases, but rather a statement and an influential move that could inspire other billionaires to do the same.
Many are cynical about their project but there are also a lot of people who believe in it. Are you among its believers? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
