Effects To Health Of Xyience Linked With Drink’s Ads Banned In Pac-12 Networks

Pac-12 Networks won't allow the ads of Xyience to run on air. This is because the drink can cause positive result in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCA) drug test when taken in huge volume.

Xyience energy drink contains many substances that boost endurance, focus, and energy. The main ingredients of Xyience are caffeine, taurine, L - carnitine, and panax ginseng extract. Other ingredients, according to Livestrong.com, are sodium citrate, carbonated water, citric acid, natural flavors, vitamin B-3, vitamin B-5, vitamin B-12, vitamin B-6 and more.

Reports in the past stated that energy drinks containing taurine, caffeine, vitamin B3, B6 and B12, when consumed excessively, can be dangerous to health. Among the side effects of these substances include the following:

Insomnia and Nervousness - ScienceDaily reported that a study analyzed the good and bad effects of energy drinks and has found out that though athletes who consumed energy drinks were seen to improve, there was also an increase in the frequency of insomnia and nervousness. Expert stated in the report that athletes felt they had more resistance, power, and strength with energy drinks. They increased, however, the frequency of nervousness, insomnia, and level of stimulation after the competition.

High Blood Pressure - A 2015 study revealed that energy drink intake has been linked with serious cardiovascular events, probably related to caffeine and other stimulants. As per the study, caffeine levels stayed unchanged after consumption of placebo, but increased greatly after consumption of energy drink.

Panic/Anxiety Attacks - In 2004, a case reported that caffeine consumed in greater amount can lead to physical symptoms including insomnia, tremulousness, psychomotor agitation, nervousness, and restlessness. The case highlights many points for health experts assessing patients with anxiety disorders, the report added. Larger amounts of caffeine can lead to panic/anxiety attacks.

According to the USA Today, Xyience energy drinks contain guarana and caffeine, which the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCA) lists as banned stimulants at high doses. The report continues that the drinks also have ginseng, taurine and L-carnitine -- substances that are believed by NCAA as impermissible, meaning that schools are not allowed to provide them to athletes.
