Xbox One’s Backward Compatibility Brings Back ‘Call of Duty 3’

Thanks to the Xbox One's backward compatibility, players can now have another go at "Call of Duty 3." The Xbox One's updated software allows gamers to use selected Xbox 360 games and play them on the new console.

Since Microsoft launched a new software for the Xbox One that makes use of backward compatibility, players can now dig up their old Xbox 360 games and relive some memories by playing them once again on the Xbox One. One of the latest games to be included in the catalog is the fan favorite installment in the "Call of Duty" franchise, "Call of Duty 3."

Originally released in 2006, "Call of Duty" puts players in the shoes of the allied forces in World War 2, as they storm the beach of Normandy, in this classic chapter of the franchise. It is the last of the World War 2 series before the "Modern Warfare" arc, and remains as one of the best in the "Call of Duty" games.

Other classics in the catalog are "Red Dead Redemption," "Call of Duty 2," "Call of Duty: Black Ops," "Left 4 Dead 2," "Gears of War 3," "Fallout: New Vegas," and "Halo: Reach" among others. Recently, the catalog has added "Bayonetta," "Joust," "Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse," "Forza Horizon," and many more. The entire list of selected games that can be installed for the Xbox One is available on the Xbox website.

Ever since Microsoft introduced the backward compatibility feature on the Xbox One, the response from fans has been overwhelming, according to Game Spot, with users bringing back their favorite titles and have logged in over 140 million hours of combined playing time of their old games.

While players now have the ability to play their old games, the upgraded Xbox One console does not enhance the resolution or the loading speed of the old games.
