"Destiny: Rise of Iron" expansion is rumored to have brought a new improvement to rare (blue) engrams which players can now decode into exotic items. A number of players claimed that they have seen their rare engrams turn into some weapons and decrypting into more than 325 lights.
Such speculations may be for real as official Bungie news revealed that rare engrams will now attempt to reward "Destiny: Rise of Iron" players with items equal or higher than their current light. Rare engrams can now apparently decode up to 340 light additionally.
Polygon reported that "Destiny: Rise of Iron" players witnessed a rare engram decrypt into an exotic auto rifle called 335-attack Monte Carlo which caught players in surprise as rare engrams do not really have this feature. "Destiny's" engrams actually come in 5 types, the common (white), the uncommon (green), the legendary (purple), the exotic (yellow) and the rare engrams.
The uncommon engrams are known to decrypt into different weapons, armors and some rare items. The rest of the engrams except for the common ones could turn into items from two levels of gears which may be equal to the level of rarity of the engrams or one step above its current level.
