The premier episode of Season 27 of "The Simpsons" will prove to be incredibly interesting as one of the show's most beloved couples, Homer and Marge Simpson, are confirmed to be legally separating after years of marriage, according to The Irish Examiner.
In an interview with Variety, the future of "The Simpsons" was discussed by the show's executive producer, Al Jean. He said, "In the premiere, it's discovered after all the years Homer has narcolepsy." Jean revealed that the said condition will cause "an incredible strain" on the relationship of Marge and Homer. Following years of suffering by Marge and the potential guilt felt by Homer, the parents of Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson decide to call it quits and legally separate.
While this sounds like a heartbreaking storyline, especially since it will be aired on the first episode of Season 27, Jean shared that love will once again be in the air when Homer finds himself falling in love with another woman. He disclosed, "Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, who's voiced by Lena Dunham." Apart from the "Not That Kind of Girl" author, cameo appearances from the other cast members of the TV show "Girls" are expected to liven up the animated series this season.
Meanwhile, Jean also revealed another bombshell for "The Simpsons" Season 27 and this one involves the death of a major character. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the executive producer divulged that Sideshow Bob will finally have his revenge against Bart after 25 years of plotting and planning the demise of the latter.
"You're going to see Sideshow Bob do something he's wanted to do for a long time," Jean said during the interview. "I'm one of the people that always wanted the coyote to eat the roadrunner," he revealed, explaining the decision to finally satisfy the desire of Sideshow Bob for revenge. He added, "I hated frustration comedy so we'll scratch that itch."
Hours following the said interview, the Internet was at a frenzy and debates were ignited on whether Bart will make a come back sometime soon. In response to the speculations and to the media attention this information caused, Jean took to social media to address the issue. Along with his post on Twitter, he provided a link of a news story on the death of Bart from the The New York Daily News. He shared on the social media platform, "@thesimpsons #EverySimpsonsEver Amazed how excited the media are to report in the murder of a ten year old boy."
