On Wednesday, June 3, country singer Randy Rogers' wife gave birth to a daughter whom they would name Rumer Rain Rogers. Sadly, the joyous moment was short-lived as six days later, the baby passed away.
As any proud father would do these days, Randy, who is well-known in the country music circuit along with this band, posted a photo of his new baby using his band's Twitter account. "Newest member of the Rogers family, Rumer Rain. It's a good day, friends," Rogers wrote as he shared a photo of baby Rumer Rain, who looked like a healthy 7 lb., 13 oz. She was being cuddled by her mother, Chelsea Cai Dowlearn, in the photo. The faces of the parents were unmistakably beaming, as it was supposed to be a happy event.
Six days after Rumer's birth, however, the country singer, through his people, would make a different announcement - one that any devoted parent would be disheartened to read. The message stated, "Rumer Rain Rogers, daughter of Randy and Chelsea Rogers, passed away last night at Seton Memorial Hospital in Austin, Texas. Rumer died of natural causes, in her parents loving arms, just days after her birth. During this time of grieving, the family asks that individuals wishing to offer condolences make a donation to the children's charity of their choosing." It was posted on Facebook.
Speaking with Houston Radio 93Q, Randy confirms that his daughter died due to a rare brain condition, as reported by New York Daily News. "She died in our arms and in no pain. She was absolutely beautiful in every way," the singer said in the interview. He also said that he will be open to sharing what really happened to his baby later on and to address the questions his fans and other parents like him may have. He remarked that what happened was "quite an extraordinary one," according to US Magazine.
Following the sad event, Randy's band, which was scheduled to perform on Lumberyard in Texas on June 12, cancelled their show, according to Billboard. The band is also set to perform with country superstars like Tim McGraw and Keith Urban at the Colorado Country Jam next week, as posted on the event's website. It is not clear if Randy Rogers Band would also be skipping this.
Randy and Chelsea, who is also a country singer, were married in March 2013 in Maui. In that same year, Chelsea gave birth to their first daughter, River Rose Rogers.
