‘Daredevil’ Season 3 Air Date, News & Update: Marvel's Superhero Series Might Not Return To Netflix Anytime Soon

The hugely successful Marvel superhero Netflix original, "Daredevil," is already planned for a third season, but for fans, it will have to be a bit of a long wait, as season 3 of the blind vigilante's crime fighting adventures won't be available for streaming until 2018.

The success of the Netflix series brought the resurrection of Matt Murdoch and Daredevil, after the original portrayal by Ben Affleck in the 2003 movie of the same name, turned out to be a huge flop. Now, "Daredevil" is one of the most watched superhero shows on Netflix, alongside "Jessica Jones."

However, season 3 of "Daredevil" won't come until early 2018, according to the production sequence plotted out by Netflix and Marvel. Comic Book says that the delay for the new season is due to the own success of "Daredevil." After the second season of the show came only months after first was finished, fans will now have to wait for a more than a year. The reason for the series being pushed back, is due to a spinoff where Daredevil actor, Charlie Cox, will portray his character for a Marvel/ Netflix spinoff called "The Defenders."

"The Defenders" will be a new series that brings together the Marvel/ Netflix heroes Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Daredevil himself, to form a team like Marvel's Avengers, to make a stand and fight evil. The new show will act as a pre-cursor to the events that will take place in the third season of "Daredevil."

With the delay of the third season already confirmed, the next question is, What lies ahead for the new season of "Daredevil?" According to Cinema Blend, season 3 could see the return of The Kingpin, Wilson Fisk, who now runs his crime ring while in prison. Matt Murdoch's relationship with Foggy Nelson will also be a major angle for the new plot, as well as the introduction of a new villain that seeks to wreak havoc in Hell's Kitchen.
