‘One Punch Man’ Season 2 News & Updates: Season 2 Finally Confirmed, Who Will Saitama Face Next?

Anime fans everywhere can now rejoice as the legendary hit anime adaptation of "One Punch Man" has been confirmed to be coming back with a second season now greenlit, though no details as of yet on the specific premiere date of the new season.

The announcement was made by the "One Punch Man" animated adaptation's staff and cast during the "One Punch Man Fall Festival" event last Sunday, according to the Anime News Network. The announcement of the "One Punch Man" season 2 greenlight was also shared on the adaptation's official Twitter account, as reported by Gamespot.

The franchise is also set to get its own smartphone game app, which is set to arrive sometime next year. Other details and specifics about "One Punch Man" season 2 are scarce as of the moment, with no news yet on when the season might arrive or what the adaptation might contain with regards to the manga.

"One Punch Man" was originally a webcomic created by an author known only under the pseudonym ONE, with Yusuke Murata of "Eyeshield 21" eventually remaking the manga and publishing it on Shueisha's Tonari no Young Jump manga. The manga tells the story of Saitama, who is so powerful he no longer derives joy from his hobby as a "superhero-for-fun;" "One Punch Man" season 2 is expected to continue the adaptation of his story.

The first season of the "One Punch Man" featured an immensely loyal adaptation of the source material, although it did feature some marked differences for pacing reasons. The season ended at the time that Saitama defeated Lord Boros, so far the only one able to take more than one punch from Saitama, and "One Punch Man" season 2 is likely to face an even bigger foe.

That foe is none other than Garou, the "Hero-killer" who is one of the most dangerous and most powerful beings to exist in the manga's storyline. Before him however, depending on the direction the animation team might pick for the adaptation, "One Punch Man" season 2 will still feature lesser threats in the interim storyline before Saitama faces his next major opponent.
