'Quantico' Season 2 Premiere : Alex Parrish Now Works For CIA; Blair Underwood To Play New Character

"Quantico" has aired its first episode of Season 2 last Sunday, September 25th. The action-drama TV series opened its second season with yet another conspiracy and a lot of action. The new plot has a lot to offer with a new and wider range of setting.

The first episode of "Quantico" started with Alex Parrish (played by Priyanka Chopra) now working for the CIA. As much fun as she thought it would be, she was tasked to sit behind a desk until she received a call from an unknown number. The call was the start of yet another conspiracy that will happen in the near future.

Just like the first season, the plot of "Quantico" lies with a flashback and flash forward connection. Flash forward from when she received a call from an unknown, the story lies to a bombing within a five-block radius where the President and the First Lady was on duty for a conference. The assailants who called themselves the Citizens' Liberation Front took hostage of many people including the President and the First Lady. The story escalated with the First Lady that was about to be beheaded.

Flashback from that current event, Alex Parrish and Ryan Booth (Josh Hopkins) started working again and this time at The Farm, the CIA's mysterious facility. Miranda (played by Aunjanue Ellis) and Matthew Keyes (Henry Czerny) want them to spy at The Farm to figure out which of the training students is indoctrinating for the instructor's rogue group of anarchists.

New addition to "Quantico," Blair Underwood, who previously toiled at ABC on Dirty Sexy Money and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., joins as a series regular cast. He plays as Owen Hall, the intelligent and inspirational CIA officer every fledgling operative wishes he or she could learn from, reported by TV Line. This is Quantico's second major hire for Season 2, following the casting of Russel Tovey.

"Quantico" creator Josh Safran answered some questions about the new setting and including CIA in Season 2. "It's funny because we couldn't really talk about this back in May and I think some people thought we just threw the CIA thing in there. But before we got to the end of the [first] season, we knew when Alex got fired from the FBI last year that she wasn't really fired. It was all planted. It kind of came about organically. This is a way for the FBI and the CIA to work together so it's not like we're completely leaving that world and all the people we've established and love behind. We wanted the show to get more mature, darker, a little deeper, and I think being at the CIA will help do that", reported by TV Guide.

The lead character of "Quantico" Priyanka Chopra said in an interview with Complex magazine this year, "I wanted to be seen as just an actor, not because of my ethnicity or where I come from. I think global entertainment needs to become like that. It needs to be about the best person for the job rather than what you look like or where you come from. And I wanted to be one of the first people to take a step in that direction", reported by IBTimes.

"Quantico" has a lot more going on now and the plot twist to watch out for. There are a few more people in addition to the cast and the wider range of setting will bring its viewers another authentic story. The second episode of "Quantico" Season 2 will air this Sunday at 10/9c on ABC.
