The overwhelming fan base of Netflix's "Stranger Things" has cemented the series' place in pop culture. As in many projects with a huge amount of followers, it's a challenge for the show's creators to maintain that popularity and keep the audience's viewing experience fresh. For the creative team behind "Stranger Things," the pressure is definitely on.
"Stranger Things" producer Shawn Levy admitted during a recent interview with Southern California Public Radio that it's "scary to have people love something this much," Screen Rant reported. The team definitely does not want to disappoint its audience.
"This has been the challenge of it: on the one hand as we've seen in the movie world, to do a follow-up that feels like the same thing is disappointing to an audience; to abandon things or change things [from the original], that disappoints the audience," Levy explained, as quoted by Screen Rant.
The second season of "Stranger Things" will showcase "next-level, some crazy stuff" that the series is known for, the producer revealed. Levy and brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, the science fiction-horror series' creators/directors, will also have to address the fact that the show's main cast includes children, who will visibly age in just a short period of time.
Levy said that "Stranger Things" Season 2 will "stay honest" with the kids (Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas, and Finn Wolfhard as Mike) by "growing with them." Levy acknowledged that these children are not the same anymore, but they're still "charming and authentic."
All nine episode titles for Season 2 of "Stranger Things" have already been unveiled. Those are "Madmax," "The Boy Who Came Back To Life," "The Pumpkin Patch," "The Palace," "The Storm," "The Pollywog," "The Secret Cabin," "The Brain," and "The Lost Brother," Mirror listed.
The second season will have three new characters named Max, Billy, and Roman, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Matt Duffer said that Season 2 will continue the story of the characters already established while introducing new significant ones.
Season 1 of "Stranger Things," which took place over the course of six or seven days, explained the mysteries it presented at the end, though not entirely. Season 2 will showcase Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine) surviving the monster attack, while Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) has done a secret project with the Hawkins National Laboratory. Also, more will be revealed about Hopper's daughter Sarah's cancer.
"Stranger Things" Season 2 airs in 2017. All episodes of Season 1 are now available on Netflix.
