Olympic gymnastic champion Shannon Miller is expecting another child.
The 35-year-old gold medal gymnast confirmed expecting a second child with husband John Falconetti Monday, Jan. 14. The baby is due in summer. The new addition will be joining the couple's 3-year-old son Rocco.
The news comes two years after Miller underwent a surgery to remove a malignant tumor in the ovary. Miller, who was planning a second baby in 2011, was shocked to find out that she had a rare form of ovarian cancer.
"Things were going fantastic with the launch of my company, Shannon Miller Lifestyle, my foundation was growing and we hoped our family would expand as well. Then my world stopped. Instead of calling my parents to tell them they had another grandchild on the way, I was calling to tell them I may have cancer. Our baby plans were put on hold indefinitely," the mother-to-be wrote on her official website, about her cancer diagnosis.
During the announcement, the expecting mom also revealed her concepts about motherhood. "I've been blessed to have the opportunity to do some amazing things in my life, but being a mom is second to none," she explained.
After legally separating with her first husband Christopher B. Phillips in 2006, Miller announced her engagement with Falconetti. The couple tied the knot in 2008.
Miller, who started learning gymnastics at the age of five, has won a total of 16 World Championships and Olympic medals between 1991 and 1996.
