Zoe Saldana is excited about raising her twin sons, but she did not hide the difficulties she and husband Marco Perego encountered in looking after their children.
Saldana and Perego's children are going through sleep training, so that the little ones can have a normal sleep schedule.
According to BabyCenter, sleep training is the process of helping a baby learn to sleep at night. Babies have different coping mechanism in their sleeping habits. Some babies easily develop a regular sleeping time, others are having difficulty in doing so. Some other babies have trouble in getting back to sleep when they are awake. For these reasons, sleep training is introduced to help babies with such problems.
Saldana, the first time mom is having difficulties in putting her twins to bed. She shared her experience about sleep training her twin tykes to E! Online, "Sleep training twins is no joke because you put one to sleep and you lay him down, and the other one has been asleep, but then that one wakes up and the other one wakes up so then everybody's crying, then my husband and I are crying...You're like, 'Oh, my God!"
Despite the growing popularity of sleep training, Saldana's co-star in the movie "Infinitely Polar Bear," Mark Ruffalo, told her to "just forget about it."
Ruffalo added that it was not worth stressing about and instead said, "Let them come in your bed and slowly transition them out." Ruffalo believes that if children are forced to sleep it would cause major problems. Ruffalo is a dad of three and his experience of rearing his children is something that makes him reliable for some parental advice on raising kids.
When Saldana was a guest on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," she was advised by Kimmel to separate the two boys and have them sleep in different rooms. However, the actress did not agree with Kimmel, saying: "They wake each other up. I don't know. They were born together. It's unnatural to separate them."
Saldana is very appreciative of the two nannies they have at home. In a report from E! Online, the "Avatar" actress said, "We're in the middle of sleep training so we have two nannies who are wonderful. One that's helping us and sort of guiding us and teaching us how to sleep train."
She even referred to the nannies as their extra hands, saying, "We just have extra hands because we are new time parents and the twins are giving us a run for our money"
Saldana also shared that there are several different methods in getting babies to sleep and that she and her husband have tried every method possible, only to find themselves picking up their children and caving in to their little boys' desire of staying up late at night.
