The 4-time NBA All-Star James Harden is now moving to play full time as a point guard. Reports show that Houston Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni has decided to put James Harden in the point guard position.
The ESPN reported that the Houston Rockets main man James Harden will be putting on a show as a point guard as coach Mike D'Antoni says. D'Antoni is changing the Rockets' strategy to give the ball more often to James Harden more than he did last season.
James Harden ranked 3rd in player usage rate last season where Harden also exhibits his passing ability as he leads the Rockets with a career-high of 7.5 assists per contest.
According to the SB Nation, D'Antoni mentioned that sending off James Harden to a legitimate point guard position would give the Houston Rockets a lot of advantages. Harden can knock down shots while creating his own and he can also run the floor to lead his team to complete a successful play.
As James Harden plays the point guard, he no longer needs to battle against off-ball defender that would deny or hold him out. Harden can easily get the ball off the inbound and run the play. This will also reduce the time usage of the shot clock if they want to give the ball to Harden, just as much as they do last season.
When we say Houston Rockets, it's all about James Harden. The main source of the offense and the Rockets' key to success relies on Harden all the time, and that results to D'Antoni re-creating their strategy.
As per iSports Times reported, James Harden always trusts on his teammates. Harden cited that he identifies every skill and capabilities of his teammates that gives him an ease to give the ball to right hands.
The 27-year old James Harden has a lot of things to prove for the rest of his career. With a new role given to him by coach D'Antoni, this would test his skills and flexibility as a future NBA Hall of Famer.
