With Father's Day is a few days away, there are already stories online from children commending their father's unwavering love and support for them.
Jenna Bush Hagar, daughter of former president George Bush, has taken this time as an opportunity to highlight the some precious childhood memories with her dad.
According to Jenna, who shared her story via Today, the Bush family spent their weekends in a cabin by the lake overrun with alligators.
While the place was good enough for the former Commander-in-Chief to fish in, it was unsafe for the girls to swim. Even though they weren't able to take a dip in the lake, they loved the time they spent because it was all about nature and family.
Despite the years that have passed, Jenna still remembers what it was like to be in the cabin with her family. The 33-year-old fondly recalled the time she spent with her father as they went for night walks. There would be times when her sister and mother would come along, but for the most part, it was only Jenna and her dad venturing under the moonlight.
Looking back, Jenna could no longer remember the conversations they had 25 years ago, but the feelings of being loved and the assurance that she is safe while she is with her dad remains.
"I remember the feeling: how loved and safe I felt on our adventurous hikes. He loved his little girl so much that I know those hours of uninterrupted time talking and listening are as precious to him as they are to me. Those night walks are symbolic of how he was as a father: simple, always present, always there. I never once doubted his love."
George, being the father of Jenna and the first man in her life, she chooses a man who has the same traits as his dad. As Jenna starts her own family with her husband, Henry Chase Hager, she is excited to see him giving the same love and support to their daughter.
Through her husband's behavior and his eyes when he looks at their daughter Mila, she can first hand how her own father loved her. While she may feel nostalgic at times, Jenna is beyond grateful for those moments in the cabin where she felt her father's unconditional love and looks forward to the precious moments Henry will have with her own girls.
