Life with two children is not as easy as new mom Elizabeth Banks thought it would be.
The 38-year-old actress of "What To Expect When You're Expecting" fame and husband Max Handelman welcomed their second son Magnus Mitchell Handelman via gestational surrogate in November. Apart from the new arrival, the couple has a 22-month-old son Felix, who was also born via surrogate.
During an interview with People magazine last week, Banks opened up about her motherhood experiences and life with two children.
"Two is very different from one. When you have one kid, you feel like you can jet set around and you can throw him on the hip and you get your life done," Banks told People. "You don't realize how easy one is until you have two. Now I'm really a mom. Oh, I am a mom now! This is for serious - I am responsible for two people now."
The new mom realized her real situation when she spent the holidays with her family recently.
"[We] had no help, no nannies, no babysitters. It was crazy," she said. "You forget how difficult it is to wake up in the middle of the night, how exhausting it is. "I lost all my nails. I did dishes and cleaned bottles for 10 days so I lost all those nails!"
However, she is happy that her toddler son has already adjusted to his new position as a big brother.
"He loves to say how cute Magnus is and he loves to give him kisses and he's very gentle," Banks said. "He loves to bring him gifts - sometimes that means shoes that are thrown in the bassinet, but that's okay."
Banks met her husband Handelman, a sports writer and producer, during her college days in 1992 and married him in 2003.
Banks, who made her entry into the film world with "Surrender Dorothy", is popular for her roles in films like "The Hunger Games", "The Uninvited", "Pitch Perfect" and "Wet Hot American Summer".
