5-Year-Old Ollie Carroll Gave Prince Harry A Hug To Remember

Ollie Carroll, 5, stricken by unusual Batten illness, finds his strength to stand up and hug Prince Harry in an award ceremony. This happened when Carroll was presented to Prince Harry before the WellChild Awards Ceremony in Dorchester Hotel in London.

Carrol, afflicted by Batten illness, received the Inspirational Child Award, an award for kids aged 4 to 6 during the WellChild Awards Night, a charity which Prince Harry is a sponsor, according to HelloMagazine. But before the event, a heartwarming scene has transpired.

Because of his condition, Carrol can hardly stand up and walk. However, when he was introduced to the prince before the event started, he did not hesitate to stand up and hugged the prince.

Lucy, mother of Ollie told EveningStandard that his son wrapped his arms tightly around the neck of the prince for many seconds. Furthermore, in MailOnline, Lucy said that Ollie is not actually aware of who Harry is but just reacted instinctively to the way he was talking and interested with him.

To Prince Harry, Lucy said: 'He is brilliant with kids and just very natural." She added, "I was so touched at the time he took to talk to Ollie. He even knew about his younger sister, Amelia, who is three and has also developed Battens. It was incredible."

Prince Harry met seven more award recipients that night. On the awards night, Prince Harry said: "I am profoundly moved by the people I have met and the stories they have shared with me."

"The Awards are a perfect demonstration of WellChild's commitment to helping as many seriously ill children and their families as we can and embody our aim of raising awareness of their needs," Linda Partridge, WellChild's Director of Programmes, said. "We are grateful to GSK for their continued support of this incredible event," she added.
