Is Giuliana Rancic A Genie In A Bottle? Grants Wishes Of Women With Cancer

As a survivor of breast cancer, Giuliana Rancic wants to start the breast cancer awareness month right by inspiring millions of women around the world who are battling the illness at this time. The breast cancer survivor and TV personality has not only opened up personal struggles, fearlessly speaking her story with the public, but also established the Fab U Wish charity in 2012.

"When you're diagnosed, you don't care about hair and makeup and clothes and all the little things in life," Giuliana said to the Los Angeles Times. "I realized, 'I'm not just someone with breast cancer. I'm still the girl I was before.' I wanted to find a way to give women the opportunity to feel fabulous for a day,'" she continued.

In October 2011, Giuliana has been diagnosed with breast cancer, according to Mail Online. The TV personality was shocked of the diagnosis as she did not have any history of the disease. Mail Online noted that Juliana told NBC: "Through my attempt to get pregnant through IVF, we sadly found out that I have early stages of breast cancer. It's been a shock." Three months after being diagnosed with breast cancer, she went through reconstructive surgery and double mastectomy.

Two weeks later, she decided to go back on TV. "Some people said how brave I was to go back to work so soon, but it wasn't about being brave," Giuliana says according to LA Times. "I felt so much better after getting hair and makeup done. I was able to look in the mirror and see the girl I knew before my surgery," she added.

By having her makeup and hair done for work, she managed to keep her optimism and confidence despite her condition. Now, she wants also to share this inspiration to other women combating cancer. With the help of The Pink Agenda Charity, she founded the Fab U Wish program, whose purpose is to make dreams of women with cancer come true.

Presently, the program has granted around two dozen requests, according to LA Times. One example is a shopping spree and makeover for a Marine based in Afghanistan, who lost her hairs during cancer treatment and just wanted to feel and look like herself before the treatment.

Meanwhile, Giuliana will host the annual UnMask Cancer on Oct. 22 at the Mandarin Oriental with his husband Bill Rancic, as per Boston Herald. "I'm happy to be a part of any opportunity to bring awareness to early detection - especially in a room filled with so many young women," Giuliana said to Boston Herald.
