"The Last Of Us" was first released in the summer of 2013 on the PlayStation 3. Deservedly, Naughty Dog fans were awed by "The Last Of Us" gameplay and story. More than "The Last Of Us" gameplay or story, however, "TLOU" hooked with its carefully crafted attention to detail throughout the entire experience.
Youtube channel Wellcome Trust must have had such an experience with "The Last Of Us" game. So much so that that they assembled a group of experts from several fields to discuss "The Last Of Us."
Particularly, this assembly targeted to discuss how accurate was the outbreak demonstrated by Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann in the "Last Of Us." Could what happened to Joel and Ellie in "The Last Of Us" happen in the real world?
The video broaches interest in appreciation of "The Last Of Us" that goes beyond Joel, Ellie and just putting the infected down. Suffice it to say that "The Last Of Us" became a jumping board of a broad intellectual discussion.
Given the loving care and attention Naughty Dog lavishes on its games, how can "The Last Of Us 2" top what fans saw in the original "The Last Of Us?" Could Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann get bigger, broader and deeper with "The Last Of Us?"
Conversely could Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann make "The Last Of Us 2" a more intimate story in a world that has already collapsed, keeping the world as it is? Given the cynical orientation of Joel's worldview, it would be interesting to see more optimistic characters (other than Ellie) discussing the world and how it could be bettered.
Alternatively, in this day and age of "Game of Thrones" we may just see more human cynicism and another evolution of the infected beyond the bloater bosses of the original "The Last Of Us." Of course it depends where Naughty Dog wants to take "The Last Of Us" series in the follow up as Parent Herald reports.
Will "The Last Of Us 2" be a parallel story? Could Naughty Dog make "The Last Of Us 2" a direct character sequel? A prequel and or origin story? Where the critically acclaimed developer takes the story next - if indeed they do - is currently unknown.
"The Last of Us" is currently available on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. "The Last of Us 2," in the other hand, is currently believed to be in early development with an unknown status other than a few unofficial hints from Naughty Dog.
