10-Month-Old Dies Days After She Was Violently Sexually Assaulted By Mother's Boyfriend; Baby Found Naked, Bleeding In Basement With Perpetrator

A 10-month-old baby girl died days after she was hospitalized. It was believed that she was violently sexually assaulted by her boyfriend's mother after the child was found naked and bleeding in the basement beside the perpetrator. The suspect, however, denied the allegations, saying the brought the baby to the basement to do the laundry then tried to change her diaper but he passed out.

The suspect was identified as Benjamin Ryan Taylor, who reportedly assaulted the baby on Sunday night or early Monday morning when everyone else was asleep. The assault took place in a Jackson County, West Virginia home.

According to hospital officials, when the baby arrived in the hospital on Monday, she was already in a critical condition. Unfortunately, the 10-month-old baby girl didn't survive the horrific assault and died on Wednesday evening.

The baby's doctors also said that the injuries of the baby were consistent with that of a violent sexual assault. She was also reportedly violently shook and struck in the face, People reported.

According to authorities who were called at the home, the mother, Amanda Adkins, said that she found her daughter naked and bleeding on the basement floor with her 32-year-old boyfriend. The child was unresponsive when authorities arrived.

Taylor then told officials the version of his story saying, he could no longer remember what happened next since he blacked out. The baby also reportedly had a core temperature of 90 degrees Fahrenheit when she was found.

During the investigation, deputies were able to find blankets and other pieces of clothing covered in blood. Taylor also reportedly had blood on himself and changed his statements several times. The criminal complaint also suggested that Taylor vigorously tried to wipe something off of his groin area.

In the GoFundMe Page set up for the 10-month-old, the sister of the mother wrote that Adkins discovered what she described as "every mother's worst nightmare." The GoFundMe page was set up initially to cover for the hospital expenses. The baby was announced clinically brain-dead with no hope of waking up, KTLA reported.

Taylor is now being held at South Central Regional Jail. His bond was set at $2 million and is charged with first-degree sexual assault. He will also soon be charged with the baby's murder.
