Drake University students had a social media campaign to bring Drake, the famous rapper, to their University. Drake actually went to Drake University to surprise the college students around 2:30 in the morning. However, as Drake went knocking on the doors of the sorority and fraternity houses, they fell asleep on him.
Drake had a concert in Des Moines and decided to stop by Drake University, wearing Drake University's varsity jacket and their basketball jersey. Drake started knocking on Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority house but the students were all asleep, he said in his Instagram video, according to The Guardian.
Most of the students were already asleep but Benn Scott who is a junior in Theta Chi fraternity who has just returned from Drake's concert that time. He's the one who was still awake and had a brief conversation with the rapper, Drake. A lot of the students of Drake University were disappointed that they missed Drake.
The students of Drake University speculated that Drake would come before his concert. The students have gathered in campus for #BringDrakeToDrake campaign while waiting for the platinum-selling rapper, Drake.
When the students thought Drake was a no show, they were ready to call it a night. It was the day after when the students found out that it was Drake knocking on the doors of fraternity and sorority houses past 2 AM, and they were all asleep except for one whom Drake shared a brief moment with.
The administration of Drake University and their students got the rapper's attention through the hashtag #BringDrakeToDrake on their Instagram account. The point of bringing Drake to Drake University was about student engagement, said by the director of public relations and media management. When Drake, the platinum-selling rapper saw the tagged post of him, he commented "I'mma pull up on ya", according to Time.
The social media campaign kept going and even Drake University's president posted a photo of him with photoshopped Drake. He said he hopes he gets a chance to show the rapper, Drake, his presidential bling if he comes to the campus.
Drake University may have missed the chance encounter with the platinum-selling rapper, Drake, some students were still thrilled that he showed up. A photo of Drake at Drake University gathered more than 600,000 likes on Instagram.
