Sailboat Capsizes In San Francisco Bay, Three Children On Board; One Child Pulled Out Was Unconscious But Is Expected To Recover

A sailboat capsized in the San Francisco Bay, and a total of 30 people were on board, including three children. One of those children is a 5-year-old, who was reportedly pulled out from the water unresponsive and not breathing but is expected to recover soon.

Five adults and the three children were sent to a hospital. One of the three children remains under critical condition, accoding to the USA Today . The 5-year-old boy was revived eventually and is making his way to recover at a hospital. A good Samaritan reportedly performed CPR on the boy until police officials came to take over.

The other boy, who is also 5 years old, was initially listed under critical condition but is now said to be in stable condition. It is unclear what the gender of the third child is and what his or her age is. All of the eight people hospitalized are expected to recover and no other details are available regarding the injuries of the victims, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The incident took place on Saturday afternoon. "The boat capsized 100 yards off Pier 45," San Francisco Police Officer Giselle Talkoff noted. The boat was fully submerged in the water, but the reason for the accident is still under investigation.

A fisherman, named David Griffiths, said that he tossed life jackets to some of the people in the water. He was also taking off his shoes and was ready to jump into the water to help save the people when the rescue teams arrived. "The rescue teams were from the fire and police departments in the area as well as the U.S. Coast Guard," Fire Department Chief Bob Poster said.

It is said to be unusual that the sailboat capsized considering the weather. More details will be released once information is available.
