A 21-year-old woman, who was six months pregnant, was found dead in her apartment. The victim's boyfriend who called the police was held in custody.
Dominique Dashay O'Neal was a dedicated young mom to her children as how her friend described her. Unfortunately, she left two children motherless after being slain in her apartment at Quail Meadows Apartment on Tuesday. Even the unborn child inside O'Neal didn't survive the attack.
The police said O'Neal had just finished her second shift Tuesday night hours before she got killed. She was found with multiple puncture wounds all over her body, said Chief Ken Sanford.
The police did not reveal the cause of death yet, but it was learned that O'Neal's two other children were with her in the apartment during the killing. The children were sleeping, but unharmed, MLive has learned.
In a report from Wood-TV, the police said that they received a call from a man who reported that the apartment was covered with blood.
The family members identified the man as Jamari Williams, 21, O'Neal's boyfriend. He is the father of O'Neal's unborn child.
Williams directed the officers upon arriving to O'Neal's body. The police spent most of the morning with Willilams, talking about O'Neal, her whereabouts and the timeline.
The police asked the neighbors if they heard anything that could have led to murder, one neighbor heard the couple arguing the night before the crime.
Williams admitted that he and O'Neal were fighting since Thursday night, Wood-TV has learned.
The homicide left Willliams and his 27-year-old friend under the custody of the authorities.
O'Neal's family cannot imagine Williams hurting his girlfriend. Even O'Neal's mother expressed her fondness of Willilams.
"She said he never hit her. His behavior was sometimes different, she said. It was different. I liked him. He called me quite a bit. He called me 'mom.' We talked and I prayed for him. She loved him and she wanted to marry him," said Danuel German, Oneal's mother.
O'Neals death brought grief and disbelief to her family and friends.
Her mother described her as sweet, loving and giving.
Her grandmother, Gloria Aleuqdah, sees O'Neal as a wonderful, young and beautiful girl who doesn't bother anybody. She rarely saw O'Neal really angry and added that the young mom was very smiling.
O'Neal worked as a certified nurse aide at Brookhaven Medical Care Facility on Apple Avenue. She was also a member of U.S. Army, which she references on her personal Facebook page.
O'Neal's case marks the third homicide case of the Muskegon Township Police Department since Jan. 9 this year. However, Sanford said that the three cases are unrelated and isolated. The only common ground of the three cases: All were domestic related.
