Months after Kristen Stewart announced that she is dating Alicia Cargile, she has talked in a recent interview about how happy she is about her love life noting that she is neither ashamed nor confused. The "Twilight" alum also encouraged others to accept the changes that have been going on in order to have a more awesome life.
Cargile is a visual effects producer and a long-time friend of Stewart. They were first rumored to be in a romantic relationship at this year's Cannes Festival. The two held hands while walking on the red carpet and she later admitted that they are together when she spoke to Elle magazine, ABC News reported.
Stewart shared, "I'm not ashamed and I'm not confused. Things have changed. And not just with me. We're really allowed to encourage this new acceptance to develop and be awesome."
Although Stewart and Cargile were spotted together during this year's Cannes Festival, the actress pointed out that they have been together for three years now. She told T magazine that she would never talk about her relationships in the past but when she dated women, it seemed to her like it was an opportunity to represent something positive. She noted that she still wants to protect her personal life but she wants to share about her private life because she believes she owes something to the people.
The 26-year-old previously dated Robert Pattinson, her co-star in the "Twilight" series. She recently said that it felt like her relationship with Pattinson was being dictated by the public because of being on-screen partners and eventually being real-life partners. She and Pattinson broke up following the cheating scandal involving Stewart and "Snow White and the Huntsman" director.
Stewart also appeared on "Today" for the Monday episode of the show. She talked about her first time to direct for her short film entitled "Come Swim." She shared that she has never been so happy and that she loves acting but she is ready to take the next level, People reported.
