Disney just announced that they are set to work on a live-action movie of the classic "Aladdin" animated movie. Accordingly, the person they have tapped to direct the next live-action movie is the former husband of Madonna, Guy Ritchie.
The announcement over "Aladdin" comes after it was announced that they are planning on having a live-action flick for "The Lion King" and while "Beauty and the Beast" is being produced. Cinema Blend reported that Ritchie is in talks with Disney regarding the adaption of "Aladdin" in the big screen. However, many were surprised that Ritchie is to direct the "Aladdin" live-action flick since he has been working on movies centering on the adventures of guys. He has been working on "Sherlock Holmes" as well as "The Man From U.N.C.L.E."
"Aladdin" is a musical and is in the Middle East. The original Disney movie was directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. "Aladdin" was released in 1992 and is best known for its animation and soundtrack. "Aladdin" got two Oscars during that year for Original Score and Original Song.
For the "Aladdin" live-action flick, it was reportedly written by John August and will feature a number of musical elements from the original film. Dan Lin is reportedly set to produce the film under Lin Pictures, Coming Soon reported.
"Hercules," "Treasure Planet," "The Princess and The Frog" have not been announced yet if there will be a live-action version. It is unclear if Musker and Clements will be working with Ritchie in the "Aladdin" live-action remake since the two recently directed the upcoming flick, "Moana." It is rumored that a "Cruella" movie will be in the works with Emma Stone starring in it and "The Little Mermaid" with Chloe Grace Moretz.
There are no other available details surrounding "Aladdin" as of the moment such as when it could possibly hit the theaters.
