On Thursday, in a blog post from Patheos.com, Bristol Palin announced that she is expecting her second child.
Pregnancy announcements are most of the time a celebration, but not in the case of Bristol. In the blog post, the 24-year-old reality TV star wrote, "Honestly, I've been trying my hardest to keep my chin up on this one."
She is also aware that her pregnancy for the second time out of wedlock will not be good news to her family and friends, she said, "I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you."
Bristol is the daughter of former Gov. Sarah Palin, who was U.S. Senator John McCain's running mate against Barack Obama and Joe Biden in the 2008 presidential election, Independent.IE reports.
At the time, Bristol was dating Levi Johnston and eventually got pregnant. Her first pregnancy earned her attention and had an adverse effect on her mom's campaign. It became an issue among social conservatives.
Sarah was ridiculed on her stand for supporting traditional family values after it has been learned that her daughter Bristol was pregnant out of wedlock, The Hill reports. However, despite the issues, according to Independent, Sarah remained the darling of the Tea Party wing of the Republican party.
Briston gave birth to her first child, Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, in December 2008. She was still 18 then. She was engaged to Johnston, the father of the child, but the two split up three weeks after they announced their second engagement, CBS News has learned.
Briston told People, that on the day they announced their engagement, he approached her and told her that he might have fathered a baby from another woman.
Just recently, Briston called off her wedding to Dakota Meyer, 26, a week before they were supposed to share their vows. The reason is unknown at the moment.
Briston is obviously going through a tough challenge and she is aware of it. She wrote "Life moves on no matter what. So no matter how you feel, you get up, get dressed, show up, and never give up. When life gets tough, there is no other option but to get tougher."
Despite the heartbreaks and failures, the former finalist on "Dancing with the Stars" is asking for respect and privacy. She stressed that she doesn't need any lecture or any sympathy.
Her family is her priority and she is hopeful that everything will work out fine, as she wrote, "Tripp, this new baby, and I will all be fine, because God is merciful."
